Stamp collection is a popular hobby across the United States. It is the act of collecting small self-adhesive pieces of paper with different designs. It is something really fun and easy. Here are some surefire tips that would help you build your stamp collection.

* Start on the low key. Start collecting used stamps instead of buying new ones immediately.
* Search your mailbox. What better way to find stamps is through searching through the pile of mail you receive each time.
* Get your friends, family members and neighbors involved. Spread the word that you are building a stamp collection. In this way you can ask for their stamps. Also, when someone is going on a trip, you can grab this opportunity to buy a stamp from where he is going.
* Check for old mails or envelopes. These could be sources of old stamps that can no longer be found at present.
* Form a group of stamp collectors or perhaps join one. You can share your sources of stamps. Better yet you might be able to get a good bargain when you buy stamps in larger numbers. It can also be a place for swapping stamps.
* Look for stamp clubs. This is where you can meet other stamp collectors from whom you can seek advice about your stamp collection.
* Have a pen pal. Your exchange of letters would generate stamps located from different places.
* Research. Some magazines or online shops sell unique stamps. Perhaps, there even might be treasure finds.
* Check out stamp auctions. They usually have a variety of stamps that are really hard to find in the market.

These are only few tips that help a beginner stamp collector. It is not really having all the existing stamps but having a unique collection of stamps that would reflect your personality. It is a way to discover the different cultures of various countries. It is also a way to keep a record of history.

Note that stamp collection is not just about gathering different stamps. The act of caring for the stamps is equally important. Fervent care should be instituted if you intend for your collection to last for years. Also, it would be no fun if the stamps you collect would only wither away.

With ample care, you will enjoy stamp collecting. You'll never know, your stamp collection might become the most valuable in the next years.

Tattoos are very common these days, with nearly 1 in 4 people having at least one. Tattoos represent an art form, and allow people to broadcast who they are. Even though they are popular, most people will end up regretting them. In most cases, those who regret tattoos didn?t think about their design or take the time to choose the best tattoo for them. Even though it is possible to get a tattoo removed, the process is expensive and quite painful. To prevent this from happening, you should always take some time and find the perfect tattoo ? your dream design.

Instead of trying to save some money, you should never choose a studio or artist based on how cheap they are. Cheaper artists and studios normally lack in work quality, which is why they are able to charge cheaper prices. Instead, you should look for the best studio and artist that you can find close to your area. Even though it may be expensive ? the quality and design will be well worth it.

For some, their dream design is a person. This can be a loved one or someone who has passed on. You can always use a design or symbol that means something to you and reminds you of them or you can always use their face. Good tattoo artists can make magical tattoos with meaning, whether it is someone?s face or a symbol that brings out meaning.

Sometimes, it can be hard picking out your dream design. If you have an idea in mind but are still not sure what you want, you can always research. You can get tattoo books, theme books, magazines, or just research online. By looking at designs you may find something similar to what you are interested in. Once you have found it, all you need to do is sit down with your tattoo artists and come up with your dream tattoo design.

If you have a basic idea for something small in mind, you can always have it tattooed then come back later and have more added on. The best thing about tattoos is the fact that they can always be added to later. This can be a great thing if you want to try a smaller tattoo first, and then decide whether or not you want to get it bigger. If you start with a fraction of your dream design, you can always finish it up later on.

Whenever you get your dream tattoo you should always take time selecting the design. Tattoos will stay with you forever, which is why you should pick them carefully. If you put the necessary time and thought into it now, you won?t regret it later. Your dream design should be very important, and hold meaning. This way, every time you look at it ? you?ll be reminded of that special moment in time and you?ll never forget about it.

Each and every one of us is always on the lookout for great deals and any way to save money that we can find. With the Internet being so popular these days, many people often turn to the Internet for free tattoo designs. For most of us, free is always the way to go. When you stop and think about it, a free tattoo design sounds a lot better than paying as much as $150.00 for one at a tattoo studio. The fact about it is simple - someone could just as easily draw their tattoo design themselves and then pay the tattoo artist to put the tattoo on them.

If you give it some thought, you may begin to wonder if free tattoo designs are actually worth it in the end. The fact of them being free is always great, although you may wonder if the design is something you would like to display permanently on your body. When you show your new tattoo to friends, they may think negative thoughts when you tell them that you got the design free off the Internet. Each and every time you show your tattoo people will want to know about the message and the design, which you?ll probably need to think about.

All of us are familiar with the old saying ?you get what you pay for?, and it?s truly no different in this scenario. Although there are hundreds and hundreds of websites on the Internet that provide free tattoo designs, few of them are really worth the interest. Most of the free designs out there on the Internet are very poor quality. Therefore, it would be in your best interest to wait and have a professional tattoo artist make the design for you.

Those who choose to go with free tattoo designs will tell you that tattoos are very expensive and they can?t afford to have a professional tattoo artists draw up the design. Some people, when dealing with custom tattoo designs, will say that their tattoo artist doesn?t do custom designs or that he just don?t want to do theirs. Although most of this may be true to an extent, there truly is no better way to get a tattoo than using a design made by a professional tattoo artist.

As most already know, free tattoo designs are normally made by those who know next to nothing about tattoo designing. In most cases, these designs are made by someone who is looking to make a quick profit instead of a true professional tattoo artist. You can easily tell that they aren?t professional quality simply by looking at them. Most free designs have poor quality, poor lines, and often times the work appears to be made on a personal computer. You certainly wouldn?t want to use something like this with your tattoo ? simply because you will be showing it the rest of your life.

If you spend a lot of time searching on the Internet for free tattoo designs, you may be able to find a few with good quality. There are some good quality designs out there, although you?ll probably have to search quite a bit to find them. It?s best to have an idea in mind about the tattoo you want then look for it that way. Although it may take you some time, you could very well find it. If you do come across it as a free tattoo design ? you should always triple check the quality before you decide to have it done.

The stamp collection you wanted is on its way. You've rummaged mailbox and wastepaper bins post office, and saved your and your friends? envelopes to get your first stamps. At this point, you start to think about where best to keep your stamp collection.

An ordinary cardboard shoebox gives or document folder can keep your stamps, but there should be better ways of keeping your collection. Your storage should also display your collection in addition to storing it. Also, the abovementioned methods can damage your stamps through dirt or creases and other environmental factors. So, why not frame the stamps themselves? Stamps are relatively small, and you can store more of it in the frame. Also, the frames go on the walls and will not take up shelf or closet space in your home. To learn about the possibility of framing stamp collections, we should understand the basics of storing stamps.

Stamps have traditionally been kept in commercial stamp albums, and they are still the most popular way of keeping collections.

When considering storage for your stamp collection, consider some important ideas.

Your collection may end up in various kinds of storage. Depending on the quality of your collection as it grows, and your taste and preference as your experience and expertise in stamps increases, you may decide on many different kinds of storage methods through the years. So, don?t purchase too many storage items for your first stamp collection.

Also, any stamp collector must consider high-quality plastic sheets or sleeves to prevent tangles when stamps come in contact with each other.

Stamp albums are available in many sizes, formats, and binding types such as notebook-type, loose-leaf binding type, and three-hole binder type. Whatever the format and size, albums must always have sturdy acid-free paper to hold the stamp collection in.

Why the emphasis on protection and acid-free paper? Because stamps are very sensitive to environmental degradation. High temperature, heavy sunlight, high humidity (which encourages mold spores or mildew), strong electric-powered lighting, photocopying machines, and even simple air can damage stamps collections. Furthermore, several or all of the said factors can react with each other to create very bad conditions to your philatelic collection.

Specifically, sunlight all alone could very rapidly discolor and make newsprint to get brittle. Therefore, you must try to avoid decorating your home?s walls with your framed stamp collection. If you still want to see stamps on hanging frames, consider inexpensive stamps or take photographic prints of your collection and place them in the frames.

Remember, a philatelist wants his collection to last a long time, so balance the need to decorate or display with care for your stamp collection.

It is always an enjoyable and greatly fulfilling experience when we are able to share our interests and passions with like-minded individuals. As one of the most popular hobbies in the world, stamp collecting is one activity you won?t have to enjoy on your own. With a little patience and a bit of work, joining a stamp collecting club or organizing one on your own, where you can interact with people who have the same passion and interest in stamp collecting as you, will not be a problem at all.

How Do I Find a Stamp Collecting Club Around My Area?

All it takes is a click of the mouse and a little work with the keyboard. By surfing the Internet, more likely than not, you will stumble upon a stamp collecting club located where you live along with instructions and details as to how to participate. You can use a regular internet search engine to do this, but it might save you time if you visit the home pages of stamp organizations and search there instead. Larger, more organized stamp collecting organizations have sections on their web site that provide lists of affiliated stamp collecting clubs, usually arranged by location.

What if There?s No Stamp Collecting Club in Existence in my Area?

You don?t necessarily have to become a member of a stamp collecting club that?s within your area ? again, with the help of technology, you can participate in a stamp collecting club miles away from where you live. These days stamp collecting clubs have their own sites on the internet, where you can trade information and news about the stamp collecting world.

But if you prefer participating in a club where you actually interact and socialize with fellow collectors, it wouldn?t be a bad idea to perhaps start your own stamp collecting club within your community. You can research over the internet about the beginnings of already existing stamp collecting clubs and start your club the way you did. Coordinate with your local post office and ask permission to put up posters or signs announcing the formation of your club and inviting interested individuals.

You should also put up a place that your club can call home over the internet. The easiest way to do so is through a web blog, which you can sign up for free of charge. This way, you can make the existence of your newly-formed stamp collecting club known not only in your neighborhood, but also around the world.

Eventually, if your stamp collecting club turns out to be a success, you might want to consider affiliating with major stamp collecting organizations.

Collecting and bringing stuff together is fun and it can be rewarding too when your collection gets noticed by other people who may even want to buy your collection. People collect dolls, cars, toys, and almost anything that can be accumulated. For some, there is nothing like collecting stamps.

Before you decide on starting a stamp collection you must first determine what kind or type of stamps you are going to collect. You can collect any kind of stamp but it would be more valuable if you collect a certain kind of stamp. You can choose to collect stamps according to their types, formats, purpose, or condition.

A total of ten thousand postage stamps are being issued every year throughout the world and it would be very expensive and perhaps almost impossible to aspire for a worldwide collection all at once. You can however start with a realistic and doable stamp collection by collecting stamps issued in a specific country.

The easiest stamps to collect are those issued in the country where you live because it is more accessible. However, you can also choose to collect stamps from countries which have special meanings to you. The kind of stamps you will collect will also depend on your financial resources because there are stamps that are way too expensive.

You can also collect stamps by topic such as stamps depicting birds, ships, planes, flowers or any other object. There are people who collect Disney or cartoon stamps but you must develop a very network for this collection starting from friend sin all areas of the world. Another option is to collect used or new stamps. You can also opt for a color-scheme stamp collection where you will only collect blue or red stamps.

You can already start collecting stamps even if you do not have the money to spend on it. Start with used stamps because you can have them for free. Start by asking your housemates for stamps that come with their postcards and letters. You can also expand your network by asking friends, relatives and acquaintances for used stamps. Some people write to as many pen friends from different countries so they can exchange stamps.

While you may be excited enough to tear off stamps from envelopes, the best way is to cut the stamps from the envelopes and remove them later using a special process used by stamp collectors.

If you have extra money then you can look for new stamps from stamp dealers in your area. Also join clubs for stamp collectors because this can be an opportunity for you to exchange stamps with other collectors.

To start off your stamp collection, make sure you are equipped with the very basic stamp collecting tools like a stamp album, tongs, hinges, a perforation gauge, a magnifying glass and a watermark sensing device. When you have collected enough stamps, it is better to place them in a stamp album. Most stamp albums already have hinges with which you can mount the stamps safely.

Never munt your stamps using adhesive tapes or glues because it can damage your stamps. If your album doe snot have those little plastic dividers then it is best to buy mounts or hinges to separae your stamps accordingly.

Be careful when handling stamps because you do no want to ruin them; better use tongs to keep sweaty and dirty hands away from the stamps. No matter how you wash your hands, there will alwyas be sweat and grime which could affect the quality of the stamps you ar ehandling. Also but a good magnifying glass as it will help you inspect your stamps closely. Stamps may appear the same when viewed with the naked eye but who knows what you will discover when you use a magnifying glass.

There are a variety of choices when starting your stamp collection but do not be so caught up with the technicalities because stamp collection is basically a hobby and you do it for enjoyment. You can start a stamp collecting hobby for pleasure but when you haev already mastered this hobby then you can turn it into a money making venture. But first, take the time to enjoy your tamps.

There are a lot of things that can affect the price of stamps and you?ll learn about all of them in here.

FACTOR #1 TYPE OF STAMPS
Different types of stamps fetch different prices.

Definitive Stamps ? These stamps are the regular small stamps that we are used to seeing all our lives. They are priced at common rates since they?re subject to daily, routine use. These definitive stamps can be seen glued at the back of personal greeting cards sent by your parents during Easter or on newsletters that sell none of the things you?re interested in.

Commemorative Stamps ? If definitive stamps are produced by the billions, commemorative stamps tend to have a more ?conservative? production rate and are distributed only by the millions. As you have no doubt deduced by now, these stamps were created in commemoration of a historical event or figure. Because of their limited edition status, they are priced slightly higher than definitive stamps. Commemorative stamps are RARELY reproduced so be sure to buy one of each release when you have the chance!

Special Stamps ? This category was simply coined in recent years to describe the stamps that are especially produced for an occasion like Christmas or Valentine?s Day. These stamps are bigger than commemorative stamps but their prices ? depending on their production rate ? can be cheaper or more expensive than the latter.

FACTOR # 2 RARITY ? Naturally, the rarer a particular stamp, the higher value it is given. Stamps are classified as rare when there are only limited original copies available in the market. This may be because the stamp has been released long in the past and only a few of it are left existing OR it could be a new stamp with a limited release.
Naturally, one cannot immediately expect to be paid a great amount of money the moment he says his stamp is of rare quality. Experts must be consulted so that the stamp?s authenticity may truly be verified.

FACTOR #3 HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE ? Stamps that have historical significance also command huge prices in the market. The first stamp ever made was the Penny Black in Great Britain and this obviously makes it a collectible item. The first basketball stamp is yet another example; you would have to visit Philippines, however, if you wish to obtain it from its country of origin.

FACTOR #4 CONDITION
Unused Condition ? Stamps that are considered unused will generally fetch a better price than one that?s used but of the same edition. Secondhand rare stamps however may be tagged at a higher price than unused brand new stamps.
Mint Condition ? It?s very rare to see stamps that are truly in mint condition, especially those that are more than a decade old. A stamp in mint condition is one whose original beauty has been preserved throughout the years. No cuts, tears, folds or any other flaw mar its appearance.
Stamps in mint condition will always sell at a good price because of the amount of care bestowed upon them by their owners.

FACTOR #5 AUTHENTICITY
There are a number of organizations and experts today that can provide generally accepted certifications of authenticity for stamps. These documents serve as proof of the stamp?s validity and directly contribute to the added value of the stamp.
If you wish to ensure that auction houses will peg your stamps at the price they deserve, make sure you procure all the necessary papers to completely prove your collection?s genuineness!

Nothing is more stressful, disappointing, or downright sickening than returning home from a hard earned vacation ? only to find that your home had been robbed. Burglary is a common thing these days, with burglary around the home occurring quite frequently. When you go on a vacation, you shouldn?t have to worry about the condition of your home and your things. Your vacation should be relaxing, without having to worry about anything. If you plan ahead before you go on your vacation ? you can help to minimize the risks of anything going wrong.

One way to fend off burglars is by hiring a house sitter. A house sitter is one of the best ways to get rid of any type of trouble as well. All you need to do is find someone who will swing by your house a few times a day, check on things, and turn the lights on at night. If you have animals at your house, you may want to hire a house sitter to care for your animals as well as your home. In most cases, peace of mind is worth any price. If you decide to hire a house sitter, you should always make sure that you choose someone reliable who you can trust while you are away.

In the event that you are unable to get a house sitter, you should strive to make it appear as if someone is living in your home. To be on the safe side, you can have a neighbor whom you trust keep an eye on your home. Whoever you choose to watch your property should have a number to contact you with in case something goes wrong.

You can buy various timers and such that will make it appear as if people are in your home. Radio timers and light timers can go a long way in making criminals believe someone is at your house. You?ll also want to consider your lawn before you leave as well. If the grass is too high, people will wonder if anyone is home. You should always cut it before you leave, and have someone else cut it for you if you are going to be gone for more than a week.

You?ll also want someone to pick up your mail as well. If the mail starts to pile up in your box, criminals will know that you aren?t home. Even though you may not be on vacation for long, you should always make sure that your door is locked and that you leave the spare key with someone whom you trust who can keep an eye on things for you.

When that individual comes by your home to check on things, they should be sure to turn the lights and television on in the evening. You should also make sure that your trusted person knows to check on the interior of your home, and look for anything out of the ordinary. If something is wrong, that person shouldn?t hesitate to contact the police. A broken widow, door, or furniture out of place is the first sign that something is wrong.

Vacations are something we all need to take. Vacations are supposed to be fun and relaxing, with no worries about anything else. If you take the necessary steps before you leave, you shouldn?t have anything to worry about. Whether it?s a friend or family member stopping by to check on things or a house sitter that you?ve hired ? peace of mind goes a long way in helping you make the most of your very important vacation.

Greek astrology is often, and more properly, referred to as Hellenistic astrology. It actually originated in Egypt at some point after the conquest by Alexander the Great and the beginning of the Christian era. Hellenistic astrology also comprises Byzantine and Roman astrology. It?s therefore more a reference to the general geographic area and an era in history, rather than to one particular society or culture.

While Hellenistic astrology can?t be linked to any one individual or culture, it is the root of all modern, or Western astrology. There are numerous documents written in Greek, although some are written in Latin, that are devoted to natal astrology. This is the branch of astrology that concerns the individual. Part of the reason that it?s difficult to source these documents to any one individual or culture is that they span a period of time of about 800 years.

But that doesn?t mean that important Greek philosophers and scientists haven?t been part of the development of astrology. Hippocrates used astrological interpretations as part of his medical diagnostic system. Pythagoras studied in Egypt, and while nothing in writing exists of Pythagoras? theories, he is attributed with stating that the Earth, Planets and fixed stars revolved around the sun, thousands of years before Galileo! Later though, his theory was refuted by Aristotle who declared that the Earth was the centre of the world.

Following Alexander?s conquest of Mesopotamia, Greek astrology began to take on a more personal approach. The Zodiac and planets being made to correspond to figures from their mythology; the Stoic philosophers are especially receptive to astrology. Greek astrology influences the metaphysical astrology of India. In approximately 70 BCE, the Greeks devised the first personal horoscope based on time of birth and in 30 BCE, the Emperor Augustus had his horoscope charted and interpreted by Thrasyllus.
